“When I was in Henan, China, a friend of mine invited me to his family’s village for ChingMing Festival. First, we went to a field where my friend and his family made joss paper offerings to his immediate ancestors, his parents. I recounted the full experience in my travel writing, Ancestors and Immortals.”
Burning Joss Paper During Ching Ming Festival was published in Dave Alber’s article “Ancestors and Immortals: a Foreigner’s Introduction to Ching Ming Festival” which appeared in Suzhou, China’s Open Magazine, Issue 138, April 2018.
